Indian Philosophy Overview
Indian Philosophy is a vast subject, here is the essence of it:
Thousands of years ago India gave the world all the tools to be healthy and happy.
Indian Philosophy provides the blueprint of how to live a happy life and teaches us that we must practice balance in all four aims of human life: Artha, Dharma, Kama, and Moksha (liberation).
Artha is your means of living, including material wealth, income, and all resources that enable an individual to live their life.
Dharma is the rightful duty of a person, a basic idea of right and wrong. It gives life order, accepting responsibility and structure to serve yourself and society.
Kama is all desires. These desires come in various forms – wealth, power, recognition, sexual desires, pleasure of the senses, longing, etc.
Moksha is liberation and self-actualization.
These virtues are of equal importance and are essential for every human being.
